Loanee midfielder Jack Colback says he expects the Blues to be contenders for a top six place next season despite failing to make a challenge this time around. The 20-year-old won’t be involved with Town during 2010/11 with Sunderland boss Steve Bruce indicating that he will be part of his squad at the Stadium of Light.
Colback told the club site: "It's just been disappointing that we are not higher up the table. We have got ourselves into a position when we have threatened to really push on but we have not taken those opportunities. It's been one step forward, two steps back sometimes.
"Having been here since August though, I have seen the way the team has improved and the signs are there for Ipswich to push on now.
"I fully expect the club to be up near the top of the Championship next season and in serious contention for the top six."
Over the weekend, Steve Bruce confirmed that Colback, who has scored five goals in 30 starts and eight sub appearances for the Blues, will be in his plans for his Sunderland first team next season.
