Walters Has No Plans to Leave - Ipswich Town News
Skipper Jon Walters says he has no plans to leave the Blues during the summer. The former Chester City striker expects Town’s 2010/11 to be better than their 2009/10 campaign.
Walters says he has heard suggestions that he might be on his way out of the club, but suspects this is because of a misunderstanding regarding his domestic arrangements: "As far as I know I’ll be here next season. This is my plan.
"I think these stories may have started because I’m now renting a house in the town after selling mine. But this is because a proposed purchase broke down.”
The 26-year-old concedes that this season hasn’t been good enough and expects more next time around: "The signs are good for a better campaign after improving greatly on our dreadful start.
"We’re a lot more solid now and have turned things around. There’s no disguising it has been a disappointing season, and we must all take our fair share of blame for this.”
Walters, who netted his eighth goal of the season at Newcastle on Saturday, is contracted to the Blues until the summer of 2012.
