Midfielder Carlos Edwards says he will continue to play for Trinidad and Tobago if he is called into squads in the future. Edwards has previously won 78 caps, scoring four goals.
Despite asking to be left out of international matches once Trinidad and Tobago’s World Cup qualifying campaign was over, the 31-year-old says he will continue to answer the call if coach and one-time Town trialist Russell Latapy still wants him: "I’ve never turned my back on T&T and I’ll be there until the management staff thinks I’m not fit to play.
"It was an honour to wear the captain’s armband for the last two games and it will continue to be an honour if I can lead the team. I will definitely have a word with Russell to hear about his plans and to see how I can fit in.”
Edwards admits that his 2009/10 campaign was very much below par, having joined the Blues from Sunderland in August: "This season wasn’t up to the standard I was capable of and the coach and fans knew this. I have next season to look forward to and I won’t be too despondent. I intend to bounce back and lift my game.
"I didn’t play as many games as I would like, with a couple knocks and nature took its toll with the chicken pox. But I’m fine now, hoping to enjoy a couple days at home and get back for pre-season.”
Meanwhile, Derby County have released former Town keeper Lewis Price, who spent this season on loan at Brentford, and ex-Blues striker Darryl Knights has been told his contract at Kidderminster Harriers will not be renewed.
