Town are facing competition from Manchester City for assistant manager target Brendan Rodgers, according to a report this morning. Roberto Mancini is said to want Rodgers to join his staff at Eastlands.
Rodgers is understood to have spoken to Town about the assistant’s role, manager Roy Keane revealing that he was looking for a deputy in late April.
Former Watford and Reading boss Rodgers is said to be set to speak to City this week regarding a role working alongside Bryan Kidd, Mancini’s assistant manager.
The Northern Irishman is reported to have spent time with Steve McClaren and his Dutch championship-winning FC Twente side towards the end of the season, prior to the former England manager joining German side Wolfsburg.
