Town Looking for Charities for 2010/11 - Ipswich Town News

Town are searching for charities based in the eastern region to be their nominated charities for the 2010/11 season.

Each chosen locally-based charity will be eligible to receive a share of the money distributed to the club by the FA’s Community Shield, in addition to the opportunity to raise income and awareness from player appearances and Ipswich Town memorabilia.

The Blues have worked with specific named charities for a number of years now and will continue to support hospitals and hospices in the region with annual Christmas visits by first team players.

Chief executive Simon Clegg said: "Ipswich Town is committed to helping raise the profile of our nominated charities, as well as much needed funds, lending them the stature of club to achieve the maximum possible benefit during their tenure as a Club Charity.”

The Ipswich Town Community Trust Changing Lives fund is again set to be amongst the beneficiaries. This fund is used to provide bursaries and make investments in Community Trust programmes, facilities and equipment, which impact upon the lives of children, young people and adults who are involved in either sport or education projects run by the Trust.

Other charities which benefited in 2009/10 were Disability Care Enterprise and Cancer Campaign in Suffolk, who received their share of the Football Association’s Community Shield distribution prior to kick-off at the final game of the season against Sheffield United.

If you are a locally based charity and not a branch of a national charity, think you could benefit from the strength of the Ipswich Town name and would like to be considered to receive special attention from the club, please contact Camilla Haycock, Town's media and PR manager, either by email or by post - Ipswich Town Football Club, Portman Road, Ipswich, IP1 2DA - to receive an application form. Completed applications need to be received by Town by Friday 25th June.
