Two-Goal Wickham Fires England Into Final - Ipswich Town News
Town striker Connor Wickham netted both goals as England moved into the final of the European U17 Championships via a 2-1 victory over France in Liechtenstein this afternoon.
Wickham, previously without a goal in the competition, put England in front in the 23rd minute, hitting a left-footed shot across the keeper and into the corner of the net.
The Blues frontman made it two on 40 when he latched on to Conor Coady’s through ball before sending a low strike past the keeper.
France pulled a goal back after the break, but it wasn’t enough to stop Wickham and England from progressing into Sunday’s final (Eurosport2 UK, 5pm) where they will face Spain, who beat Turkey 3-1 in the other semi-final.
Wickham has now scored seven goals in 11 games at U17 level.
