Community Trust Launches World Cup Business League - Ipswich Town News

Town’s Community Trust, Ipswich Borough Council, Healthy Ambitions Suffolk and Asda have launched two Lunchtime Business Football Leagues to celebrate the World Cup in South Africa.

Beginning on Monday 7th June, teams from the local business community are invited to compete in a six-a-side tournament at either Portman Road, run by Ipswich Town Community Trust, or an Ipswich Borough Council competition at Gainsborough Sports Centre. Squad sizes are a maximum of eight, including at least one female, each player paying £2.50 per match.

The Lunchtime Business Football Leagues are designed to take advantage of World Cup fever persuading employees to get active during their lunch breaks, in addition to building stronger business networks.

Community Trust operations sirector Matthew Try said: "The Community Trust are delighted to be involved in these tournaments. It’s a great way to enjoy the World Cup and build strong working relationships with companies in and around Ipswich, which can only be a positive thing for the local community.

"Getting active and taking part in regular exercise is something the Community Trust works to promote to youngsters we work with. Encouraging adults to do the same sets a good example for the children and young people living in the area and is a positive step towards Healthy Ambition Suffolk’s pledge to get the county healthier by 2012.”

If you’re interested in receiving more information or want to put forward a team for the Community Trust League please email Matthew Try. Alternatively, if you would like more information or to put forward a team for the Ipswich Borough Council League, contact Peter Green. The deadline for entering a team is Thursday 3rd June.
