Foley Confirms Tampa Move - Ipswich Town News

Departing Town coach Steve Foley has revealed he had a chance to scout in Spain for a Premier League side before opting to take his new job as assistant to head coach Paul Dalglish at US side the Tampa Bay Rowdies. TWTD was first to reveal that the 56-year-old was off to the States last Tuesday.

The former Blues, Colchester and Norwich coach says he was keen to stay on the training field rather than taking the scouting role: "I had a chance to live and work in Spain, but I want to carry on coaching.

"I can’t wait to get started in the States and I’m looking forward to it immensely. It will be an exciting new challenge in my footballing life.”

Foley spent a few days in Tampa with Dalglish, who he knows from their time at Norwich, last month but is currently in Spain watching coaching at Valencia, a club with whom he has forged links in recent years after buying a flat locally.

Meanwhile, Town have been linked with a renewed move for veteran Carlisle left-back Ian Harte, who boss Roy Keane tried to sign on loan back in November. Watford, QPR and Norwich have also been linked with the 32-year-old.
