Wickham: I\'ve No Intention of Leaving Town - Ipswich Town News

Striker Connor Wickham says he has no intention of leaving the Blues, despite intense speculation regarding his future in recent weeks, particularly since he played a starring role as England won the European U17s Championships.

Wickham says leaving Portman Road isn’t even a consideration at this stage of his career: "Ipswich is the only thing on my mind, I've got no intention of moving elsewhere.

"I've got a good head on my shoulders, so it's not going to make me get big-time or anything like that."

The Hereford-born frontman, who admits that seeing claims of a £10 million price tag being placed on his head is "an experience”, says he will be looking to emulate his heroes in the senior national side in the years to come: "In five years time I'll hopefully be playing week-in, week-out and playing for the England senior team in the World Cup.

"But I've just got to keep my feet on the ground and I've got the right people around like my Mum, Dad and little brother. "I'm just grateful I've had the opportunity to play and I've taken it with both hands."

An interview with Wickham can be found on the BBC website here.
