Latest Rumours - Ipswich Town News

The weekend papers and the usual online suspects have come up with more than the regular number of Town links this weekend, including one with another former Norwich player.

A number of weekend papers claim that George Burley is about to launch a £7.5 million bid for Celtic's Chris Sutton. The story possibly stems from Celtic's purchase of John Hartson and Town's sale of James Scowcroft. We'd be very surprised, although we've been wrong before.

Elsewhere Forest's David Prutton is linked despite a denial of any interest from George Burley earlier in the summer.

Coventry's Gary Breen has long been linked with Town and his name appears in connection with the Blues once again. When the story last appeared about ten days ago Gordon Strachan denied it, adding that his club was looking to get the player on an exptended contract.

A new name is that of Stoke's James O'Connor. The 21-year-old midfielder is said to have already been the subject of a £750,000 offer from Town with Stoke trying to hold out for £1 million. Manchester City are also rumoured to be interested.

Reports over the weekend claim that Town are about to offer Titus Bramble a new contract worth £12,000 a week. The stories claim that interest from a number of clubs has led to Town making the new offer.

Bramble is already contracted until June 2004.
