Town Dismiss Lazio Friendly Reports - Ipswich Town News

Town have dismissed Italian reports claiming that Lazio will play the second friendly agreed as part of the Matteo Sereni transfer later this summer. The Rome club committed to playing two games at Portman Road at their expense when Sereni, who now plays his football with Torino, joined them on what was otherwise a free transfer in 2003.

The Blues are understood to have been in contact with the Italian club, who won the first friendly 2-0 in 2006, but so far nothing has been agreed regarding the second game.

A club spokesman told TWTD: "We are yet to finalise our full pre-season schedule. However, I can confirm that at this stage, there are no plans to host a match against Lazio ahead of the new League campaign.”

Town are expected to announce further details of their pre-season programme this week, with friendlies against West Ham at Portman Road on Friday 31st July and at Southend's Roots Hall on Friday 9th July already confirmed.

Dutch reports over the weekend linked the Blues with a friendly against PSV in Eindhoven on Saturday 17th July, but so far neither club has confirmed that the game will take place.
