Former coach and skipper Tony Mowbray is again reported to be in line to succeed Roy Keane as Town manager. Rumours that Mowbray recently spent time at Portman Road have been circulating for some days with a national newspaper claiming on Monday that the ex-Celtic boss could take over from Keane before the season starts.
According to the latest report, Mowbray met with owner Marcus Evans over the weekend and may be seen as a potential successor to Keane should Town start 2010/11 poorly.
It is unlikely that such a meeting could have taken place over the weekend with the 46-year-old having been on holiday with his family in Florida since late May.
Mowbray is currently on gardening leave having been relieved of his duties at Celtic at the end of March. Until an agreement is reached regarding the termination of his Parkhead contract, the ex-West Brom and Hibs boss is unlikely to take another job.
Speculation regarding Keane’s future had all but disappeared since chief executive Simon Clegg dismissed widespread claims that his sacking was imminent back in March until returning earlier this week.
