Town goalkeeper-coach Jim Hollman says he expects Fabio Capello to stick with Robert Green when England face Algeria on Friday, despite the former Norwich man’s disastrous error during Saturday’s 1-1 draw with the USA. Hollman worked with Green during his time coaching at Carrow Road.
Hollman told the club site: "I was disappointed for Rob, especially as I know him personally, but he will have his own strategies in place to deal with what happened.
"He's very strong mentally and he showed that after the mistake. Goalkeepers tend to fall into three categories after an error like that. There are those that try too hard to make up for it and are a bit rash, those that hide and don't make any decisions and those that do what Rob does and put it behind them straight away and carry on as though it has not happened.
"With their goal coming when it did, he had the time to prove to the manager - who is the only one that matters - that he can do the job and he did that. That will hold him in good stead, as well as the way he conducted himself after the game, around the camp and with the media. I think Capello will stick with him."
Former Town youth and reserves keeper Hollman was at Carrow Road between 2001 and 2007, joining Town in 2008.
