Finidi to be Euro Cup-Tied - Ipswich Town News

It appears that Finidi George has indeed been included in Real Mallorca's squad which plays Hajduk Split on Wednesday. If he plays he will be unable to play for Town in the UEFA Cup should he sign.

A spokesperson for UEFA said: "A player can only play for one team in Europe per season, regardless of the competition."

With Finidi's deal still not yet through, Real manager Bernd Krauss said: "Up to now he is a Mallorca player and therefore I can still add him to the list."

It is thought that signing-on fees owed from his transfer from Real Betis to Mallorca are what is holding the Town deal up. A fee of £3.7 million is reported to have been agreed as have personal terms. Finidi has also passed a medical.

If Finidi plays on Wednesday it remains to be seen whether Town would continue to pursue their interest in a player they couldn't play in Europe.
