Former Town loanee David Healy says he would be interested in joining SPL champions Rangers, if reports claiming the Glasgow giants are considering a move for him prove to be correct. Healy spent the second half of the season on loan at Town from Sunderland, scoring one goal in five starts and seven sub appearances, before a knee injury put him out of action.
Healy, who is firmly out of Steve Bruce’s plans at the Stadium of Light, said: "I am contracted to Sunderland, so talking about leaving is not the proper thing to do.
"But if Rangers came knocking I would certainly not be saying no. I have been linked with going to Rangers for four or five years now.
"It has been well documented that I grew up supporting Rangers and my dad is a big Rangers fan, but that does not mean I am ever going to end up playing there.
"I am keen to get back to Sunderland for pre-season training, get fit and see what happens."
Town boss Roy Keane appears less interested in making Healy’s move to Portman Road a permanent switch than securing Daryl Murphy’s signature, although the Waterford-born frontman is strongly tipped to be joining Celtic.
Meanwhile, Town owner and chairman Marcus Evans’s unofficial corporate hospitality at the World Cup in South Africa is reported to be under investigation by FIFA, who are keen to know how their match tickets were obtained.
