US International Wants Return - Ipswich Town News

Bobby Convey, the young US international who had a training period at Town last season, has said he wants to return to Portman Road. Convey came over as part of a scheme to give young MLS players more experience with Frank Yallop involved in bringing him to Town.

Convey wishes to come to Portman Road at the end of the season after enjoying his time at Town: "Hopefully I will be back in Europe in the off-season. If it is up to me I would definitely be back and would love to play against some of the players over in England. Ipswich were a good club for me to go to because I knew Frank Yallop. Maybe I would go there or maybe Newcastle because I played against them."

18-year-old Convey, whose spell at Town was curtailed by a hand injury, is now the golden boy of US football and looks likey to continue his career in Europe at some point soon: "Of course, everyone hopes to play for a very well respected team with plenty of fans and that team is supposed to be in Europe. For me I am in a very good experience with DC United we have a good organisation and awesome fans. When my contract is up we will see where I will end up, but so far I think I have gotten a taste of the so called football experience."

When Convey came over last season the trip was purely for experience and he could not have gained a work permit to play here. Given his increasing number of US caps this looks unlikely to be a problem in the future.
