Wright Set to Be Unveiled as Burley\'s First Signing - Ipswich Town News
Released Town full-back David Wright will be unveiled as George Burley’s first Crystal Palace signing on Monday, according to a report in south London. Wright was not offered new terms by the Blues with his contract up at the end of the month and has agreed to join the Eagles.
The former Crewe and Wigan man, who had also been linked with Leeds and Charlton this summer, was in and out of the Town side last season and often operated in his less-favoured left-back role when he was in the team.
The versatile 30-year-old's opportunities on the right were limited after Roy Keane signed Liam Rosenior on loan from Reading, while Jim Magilton signed Moritz Volz from Fulham on a similar basis during 2008/09, although the German spent most of that season out injured.
Wright joined the Blues from the Latics for £200,000 in January 2007 and made 125 starts and three sub appearances while at Portman Road, scoring five goals.
