Colchester boss John Ward says he would like Town striker Kevin Lisbie to return to the Essex club next season but is concerned that he may not get the chance to speak to the 31-year-old before he joins another side. Lisbie spent last season on loan at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, having joined the Blues from the U's for £750,000 in July 2008.
Ward said: "Kevin Lisbie is talking to other clubs. Whether we get to speak to him is in the balance at the moment.”
Millwall manager Kenny Jackett reiterated his interest in the former Charlton man earlier in the week, while Lisbie himself says he would like to find a Championship club if possible.
Meanwhile, Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp says he still has high hopes for ex-Town loanee Giovani Dos Santos, despite the Mexican's lack of involvement in his first two seasons at White Hart Lane: "If he could pass a nightclub as well as he can pass a ball he would be all right. His mum and dad came over to see me last year and apologised because they realised he wasn’t dedicated. He’s got bags of ability and fantastic skill.
"Suddenly, he was late on Monday mornings - upset stomach - he’d probably been in Barcelona partying somewhere. He’s had a great World Cup. If he knuckles down this year he could be a top player. He’s a nice kid and I hope he keeps his head down and gets on with the job."
Dos Santos himself, who has been linked with the likes of Benfica, Deportivo La Coruña, Genoa and former loan side Galatasaray this summer, says he’d like to stay in London: "During my time at Spurs I just haven't had any luck. There have been injury setbacks, difficulties adapting and few chances from the coach.
"But I feel I have matured and I am still very ambitious. When I left Barcelona my dream was to be a success in the Premier League - and I still think that is possible.”
