Friars Signs for Newry - Ipswich Town News

Released Northern Irish winger Sean Friars has signed for Newry Town. Friars was released by Town at the end of last season after making just one appearance as sub while at Portman Road. Friars also blotted his copybook in his latter days at Town when he went to court over a number of driving offences.

Newry's new manager Alfie Wylie said: "I am delighted with the quality of player we have attracted to the Showgrounds in the close season and none more so than Sean Friars. He has played for Ipswich Town and has the flair and creativity to cause lots of problems in the Irish League. It is a great signing for us."

Friars had played pre-season games for a number of Northern Irish based sides over the summer including hometown club Derry City as well as Ballymena United and Portadown.
