Town Miss Out on Celtic Youngster - Ipswich Town News
Town are reported to be one of a number of clubs to have missed out on signing Celtic youngster Graham Carey on loan. The Blues, Wolves, Wigan and Blackpool are all claimed to have been chasing the 21-year-old, who instead will join League One Huddersfield for the first half of the season.
Left-back or left winger Carey, who has been capped at U21 level by the Republic of Ireland, was a youth player with Shelbourne before moving to Parkhead in 2005.
Carey spent the second half of last season on loan at St Mirren, having played alongside Brian Murphy at Bohemians during another short-term spell late in 2008/09.
Meanwhile, another left-sided player believed to have been in Town's sights, George Boyd, has signed a new three-year deal with Peterborough. The move comes as a surprise with the 24-year-old midfielder having been expected to leave London Road this summer.
