Finidi on Town Move - Ipswich Town News

Finidi George has commented on his move to Town and has revealed that Arsenal's Nwankwo Kanu helped him make his decision to join the Blues.

Finidi, nicknamed Finito by Nigerian fans, said: "Nwankwo told me that if I got a good offer from a Premiership club I shouldn't think twice about it."

He added: "I had an offer from Chelsea two seasons ago when I was at Real Betis but it didn't go through. I've always been keen to play in the Premiership. I've turned my back on the Champions' League with Mallorca for a new and ambitious project. Ipswich are a serious team. The coach, George Burley, has told me what he expects and I hope I won't let him down."

Finidi paid tribute to his former club Real Mallorca: "I've been treated well at Mallorca - but it was a straightforward move because the transfer was good for everyone and I appreciate that Ipswich have showed faith in me. What I'm most looking forward to is the importance that's given to the physical side of the game."

Finidi is expected to be at Town tomorrow and sign with the Blues.
