Murphy Close to Celtic Move - Ipswich Town News

Celtic boss Neil Lennon says he is close to completing the signing of former Town loanee Daryl Murphy from Sunderland. The Irish frontman had been mentioned in connection with a permanent move to Portman Road this summer.

Lennon says the £1.3 million move is near to being done: "We think we’re pretty close with Murphy from Sunderland.”

The ex-Northern Ireland international has been a fan of the Waterford-born frontman for some time: "He’s quick, he’s 6 foot 2 or 3 and I’ve watched him for a few years. I think he could take the hits for us up here.”

Murphy, 27, scored six goals in 18 appearances while with the Blues between January and May.
