Bray Wanderers 0-2 Town - Ipswich Town News

A goal in each half saw Town win their final pre-season game against Bray Wanderers this evening. Richard Naylor scored his fourth header in two games in the first half and Marcus Stewart added the second after the break.

There was a good crowd at the Carlisle Grounds, although many were pre-pubescent girls there to see Nicky Byrne from Westlife who was due to put in an appearance.

The former Leeds trainee didn't appear in a first half in which chances were few and far between. Bray Wanderers were a well-organised side and they defended well.

Town's goal came in the 40th minute when Richard Naylor headed home a cross from Jermaine Wright. Naylor has had a good Irish tour and must have given George Burley something to think about as the season draws closer.

The second half was more of the same, few chances and good defending from the home side. Marcus Stewart added the second on 50 when he side-footed a Martijn Reuser corner home.

Westlife's Nicky Byrne came on and played on the wing for his hometown side.

Titus Bramble was named the Man of the Match after one of Town's more difficult pre-season games.

Team: Branagan, Wilnis (Reuser), Makin, McGreal, Bramble, Hreidarsson, Magilton, Holland, Stewart, Naylor (Counago), Wright.

Thanks to Johnny Miller, our man on the spot.
