Swansea Make Priskin Offer - Ipswich Town News

Swansea City are understood to have offered Town £400,000 for striker Tamás Priskin. New Swans boss Brendan Rodgers was the Watford manager during the 2008/09 season in which Priskin scored 14 goals, leading to his £1.7 million move to the Blues.

Rodgers, who also targeted Priskin last summer when he was Reading boss, neither confirmed nor denied his interest in the former Győri ETO striker when asked earlier in the week.

The Hungarian international wasn’t amongst the eight players the Blues recently made available for transfer, perhaps signalling that Roy Keane intends to give the 23-year-old another chance this season. Priskin, who spent the second half of last season on loan at QPR, has started all of Town’s first team pre-season friendlies so far, but without scoring.

If Town do decide to sell one of last summer’s bigger money signings, the Blues will almost certainly be looking for a fee somewhat nearer to the figure they paid a year ago. Priskin is contracted to Town until 2012.

Town look set to face a return trip to Blackburn Rovers later in the season after this afternoon’s game was abandoned after 80 minutes due to a waterlogged pitch with the home side 1-0 up and with the Blues down to 10 men. Jacob Greaves was shown a straight red card four minutes after the break for hauling down Yuki Ohashi, then Rovers skipper Todd Cantwell netted a penalty on 59, but the heavy rain had made the game increasingly farcical the longer it progressed and in the 80th minute referee Stephen Martin took the players off and then 25 minutes later abandoned it entirely.
