Burley Hopeful on Garvan Deal - Ipswich Town News
Former Blues boss George Burley says he hopes to complete the deal to take Owen Garvan to Crystal Palace in the next couple of days. The Irish U21 international was in talks with the Eagles over the last few days after the clubs agreed a £225,000 fee.
Burley says the move could be completed over the weekend: "We've agreed a fee with Ipswich for Owen Garvan and that's one we are hoping we can complete in the next 24-48 hours.
"I met with the boy [on Wednesday] and that went very well. But contract talks are always a tricky business so it isn't done yet by any means.”
Persuading Garvan to leave the club where he has played since his days as an academy trainee may be Burley’s most difficult task. The Irishman is reported to have sounded out ex-Blues Alan Lee and David Wright regarding the move.
Elsewhere, reports in Lancashire claim Jon Stead's switch to Blackpool could be in the balance with initial talks not having gone well.
Earlier in the week, a proposed move to Bristol City broke down with wages reportedly the sticking point.
