Shock Poom Bid! - Ipswich Town News

Reports this afternoon claim that Town have had a shock bid for Derby's Mart Poom turned down. The bid, which came after Town had brought Andy Marshall to Portman Road, was turned down and was thought to be in the region of £4 million.

This suggests that George Burley is less than impressed with new signing Marshall who could well miss out on receiving the number one shirt when the squad numbers are released this week. Keith Branagan could well be the man to get the nod against Sunderland with George Burley perhaps again casting his eye around for another keeper.

Marshall missed last week's game with PSV and the Irish tour with a back injury. Other injury victim Alun Armstrong, missing from the Bray match, should return to training this week.

Hermann Hreidarsson has become the fourth Town player to be called up for international duty. The Icelander is likely to be in the side which faces Poland in Reykjavik.

Matt Holland, Titus Bramble and Amir Karic have already been called up.
