Bristol City are reported to have made an enquiry regarding Town central defender Gareth McAuley. The Robins were first linked with a move for the Northern Irishman last week.
McAuley was previously said to be an alternative signing if Steve Coppell failed to land QPR’s Damion Stewart, however, the Jamaican international has completed a move to Ashton Gate and McAuley is still claimed to be a target of the club who recruited England keeper David James last week.
Town would almost certainly resist offers for McAuley, a key man in their defence, particularly with Damien Delaney out of action for three months having suffered a serious thigh injury and with Alex Bruce having moved to Leeds last week.
McAuley was linked with a move away from Portman Road last summer, having lost the captaincy, but subsequently committed himself to the club.
The former Leicester and Lincoln man is contracted to Town until June 2011.
