Town Amongst Clubs Chasing Chelsea Youngster - Ipswich Town News
Town are amongst a number of clubs to have made loan enquiries regarding Chelsea winger or striker Scott Sinclair. The Blues, Swansea and Blackpool are all believed to be chasing the 21-year-old former Bristol Rovers trainee.
Sinclair’s chances at Chelsea have been rare since he joined them for a fee which could ultimately reach £1 million in 2005 and he has been out on loan at Plymouth, QPR, Charlton, Crystal Palace, Birmingham and Wigan in recent seasons.
The England U17, U18, U19 and U20 international is well known to Blackpool boss Ian Holloway, having played under him at Plymouth and Holloway was also keen to sign the Bath-born player when he was manager at Leicester.
Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers, understood to have been Roy Keane’s target for the role of Town assistant manager, will also know Sinclair well from his time running Chelsea’s reserve team.
Blackpool appear to be the frontrunners due to Sinclair’s link with Holloway, the Tangerines’ Premier League status and his girlfriend Helen Flanagan, a Coronation Street actress, living in the North-West.
Meanwhile, Blackpool are said to be amongst the clubs interested in Town skipper Jon Walters, who is reported to have handed in a transfer request. Stoke City and QPR have also been linked.
