Keane Hopeful on Wigan Striker Scotland - Ipswich Town News
Boss Roy Keane says he is hopeful of adding Wigan striker Jason Scotland to his squad in the next few days. The Blues have had a fee believed to be £750,000 accepted by the Latics for the Trinidad and Tobago international.
Keane says that there is still plenty to do before the move is complete: "Having an offer accepted is just the start of the rollercoaster ride in terms of trying to bring a player to a football club.
"I've already spoken to the boy. He's keen to come here and we're keen to get him in. Hopefully we can get the deal done next week. I would expect all these types of dealings to be done over the weekend.”
The Blues boss says Scotland at 31 would add vital know-how: "You always need a bit of experience in your squad and Jason, if we were to get the deal done, would give us that. He’s played in the league, he knows Carlos, he seems like a good lad.
"You can’t have a squad of 17 or 18 players all 20 or 21 years old, you need one or two experienced players.”
Earlier today, Wigan boss Roberto Martinez said two other Championship clubs are also tracking Scotland.
Meanwhile, Keane says he hopes to make another loan signing before the weekend.
