Taricco Makes Surprise Playing Return - Ipswich Town News

Former Blue Mauricio Taricco is set to make a surprise playing comeback, six years after his last professional game. The 37-year-old Argentinian is currently assistant manager at Brighton and Hove Albion and is set to play for their reserves against Gillingham this evening.

Taricco, who was with Town between 1994 and 1999, ended his top level career after his one-game stint with West Ham in 2004, subsequently moving to Sardinia where he played for local side ASD Villasimius.

But now, with left-back cover short at the Withdean Stadium, Taricco has decided to don his boots once more.

Seagulls reserves boss Charlie Oatway says the former Argentinos Juniors and Spurs man still appears to have what it takes: "When you watch him in training, or he has to join in, he is certainly not out of his depth and we need a bit of cover there, so who better?

"It might be for only a game or so. He is just going to help us out at the moment.”
