Town\'s Agent Spending Up - Ipswich Town News

The Football League’s latest Agents’ Fees Report shows Town spent £298,308 on agents’ fees in the year to June 30th 2010, up significantly on the same period in the previous year. During the 12 months to June 30th 2009, the Blues paid only £122,626 to agents.

The £298,308 was split across 27 transactions, 15 new registrations, one updated contract, four cancelled contracts and seven loans.

Overall, the money paid to agents by Football League clubs rose by £3.9 million over the last 12 months, from £8.8 million in the year to June 2009 to £12.7 million.

Football League chairman Greg Clarke says the development is concerning: "Given the current economic climate, it is worrying to the see such a significant amount leaking from the game.

"This year's figures demonstrate a considerable increase on those of last season and it is essential that clubs work to reduce this liability over the coming campaign."
