Lama Linked - Ipswich Town News

French international keeper Bernard Lama is the latest goalkeeper to be linked to Town. The 38-year-old keeper is reported to have had secret talks with George Burley with a view to moving to Portman Road.

Yesterday George Burley said he may be looking to bring a keeper from a foreign club on loan, if so that man isn't Lama. He has been released by his club Rennes and so couldn't come on loan.

Lama spent six months on loan with West Ham between 1997 and 1998. He made 15 appearances for the Hammers after joining from Paris St Germain. He has 44 international caps and has also played for Lens, Brest, Metz and Lille.

Gavin Barber watched England's U21s win against Holland last night and gives us the lowdown on Titus' performance.

Titus played for the whole of the second half and gave pretty much a characteristic Titus performance. The crunching tackles were pleasingly

evident and none of the Dutch strikers ever looked like getting past him. He saw a lot of the ball as England played a patient, build-up-from-the-back type of game, and made some intelligent passes, although there were one or two balls forward which went astray. He went on one familiar surge upfield, getting to the edge of the area before striking a low right foot shoot which the keeper had no problem saving.

There was one lapse of concentration when he got caught out of position running back from an England corner - he allowed the ball to bounce over him and the Dutch striker got in a shot which bounced off the top of the crossbar. But overall it was a very solid and competent performance from Titus which bodes well for this season.

Of England's other players, Darius Vassell and Luke Chadwick impressed in the first half. In the second half, West Ham's Jermain Defoe was

outstanding, and Scott Parker played very well in midfield. The Derby duo of Seth Johnson and Malcolm Christie also looked very sharp, and

Town will have to watch Christie's quick, clever running in the first home game of the season.
