Fülöp Wants to Be Hungary\'s Number One - Ipswich Town News

Keeper Márton Fülöp is hoping that playing regularly for the Blues will help him win back his place in the Hungary side. Fülöp and team-mate Tamás Priskin are amongst six Town players on international duty this week.

Fülöp told the club site that he is looking to take the number one jersey from former Crystal Palace and Burnley glovesman Gabor Kiraly, who is currently with German side 1860 Munich: "I have been number one for my country but Gabor is playing at the moment. I need to show consistency for my club first and then hopefully I can prove that I can be number one for my country again.

"As a team we are getting there. We were in a good position at one stage in the last World Cup qualifiers but lost our last few matches. I think that in the next two or four years, we will get to a major competition."

Meanwhile, Town chief executive Simon Clegg says he hopes the 2012 Olympic torch might pass through the club ahead of the Games: "If it stays in Suffolk overnight then hopefully Portman Road will be an overnight base.

"I’m working on a number of ideas and have some up my sleeve how the football club can be involved in some way or other.”

Late last year Clegg told TWTD that he was hoping the Brazil U23 football side might use Portman Road as their base.
