Left-back Shane O’Connor has withdrawn from the Republic of Ireland U21 squad due to a hamstring injury. The 20-year-old picked up the problem in training on Thursday and was unable to take a place on the bench during Ireland's 1-0 European Championships defeat in Switzerland on Friday.
O’Connor, who is yet to win an U21 cap, was a late replacement for ex-Town man Owen Garvan having initially been named on the standby list.
Midfielder Conor Hourihane, who won his second U21 cap on Friday, remains with the squad ahead of Tuesday’s last qualifier in Turkey. The Irish youngsters are not in contention for next year’s finals.
