Pearce Monitoring Wickham\'s Progress - Ipswich Town News
England U21s coach Stuart Pearce has confirmed that he is monitoring Town striker Connor Wickham’s progress. Pearce’s side take on Lithuania in European Championships qualifier at Colchester this afternoon.
Pearce, who was at Portman Road for the recent friendly against Spurs which Wickham missed, says the 17-year-old is amongst those he is looking at on a regular basis: "Every young England player is on my radar. Whether it is Connor or anybody else, we won’t go more than two games without watching them.
"Connor is certainly in the category of players we are watching. I saw him myself towards the back end of last season and was impressed.”
Wickham, who is close to returning from the ankle injury which has sidelined him for the season up to now, scored the winning goal as England won the European U17 Championships in Liechtenstein in May.
