Keane Hoping for Premier Loan - Ipswich Town News

Boss Roy Keane says he hopes to add a loan signing to his squad next week. The Blues manager says Town are currently in talks with a Premier League club regarding the proposed signing.

Keane said: "I think there’s a good chance we might add one player next week. We’re in discussions with a club and we’re hopeful, but we’ll see.

"Like a lot of Championship clubs, we’ll be looking at Premiership clubs, at players who might not be getting games and might fancy coming to the Championship, particularly the younger players.

"We were very lucky last year. We had some very good players, people like Jack Colback, who was outstanding for us, and you’re always on the lookout.

"We’re in discussion with a club and it’s all fairly positive at the moment and maybe something will happen next week, but we’ll just wait and see.”

Sunderland’s Colback has been linked with a return to Portman Road after his excellent 2009/10 with the Blues and would provide much-needed cover in midfield, while West Brom striker Luke Moore has also been mentioned in connection with the Blues.

Keane says Darren O’Dea is a doubt with the knee injury he suffered while away with the Republic of Ireland, while Shane O’Connor will be out for around three weeks after tearing a hamstring while with the Irish U21s.

Tamás Priskin, Márton Fülöp, Gareth McAuley and Conor Hourihane returned from international duty without injury, while Jaime Peters is due to back from Canada this afternoon but is also understood to be fit.

Connor Wickham, Mark Kennedy, Damien Delaney and Luciano Civelli are not yet ready to make their first team returns.
