Town Tracking Torquay Defender - Ipswich Town News
Town are amongst a number of Championship sides watching Torquay United central defender Mark Ellis. The 21-year-old has started the season impressively and was short-listed for the August League Two Player of the Month award.
Plymouth-born Ellis was a youth player with Exeter City, where he did well enough to persuade Premier League Bolton to sign him for a fee of £90,000, which could potentially have risen to £600,000, when he was still only 17.
In 2007 the 6ft 2in tall defender joined Torquay on loan, then made the switch permanent in the summer of 2008. Ellis began last season on loan with Blue Square Premier club Forest Green Rovers but then established himself in the Torquay side in their first season back in League Two.
League One Peterborough United are understood to have had a £100,000 offer turned down in the summer.
