Civelli and Delaney to Feature for Reserves Against Colchester - Ipswich Town News
Luciano Civelli and Damien Delaney will again feature for the reserves this evening when Chris Kiwomya’s men take on Colchester United at Maldon and Tiptree’s Park Drive ground (KO 7pm). The duo played 45 minutes of last week’s second string defeat to Oxford United at Portman Road.
Delaney has been out of action since picking up a serious thigh problem in pre-season training, while Civelli is continuing his return from his 18 months out with a multi-ligament knee injury.
Speaking earlier in the week, manager Roy Keane said that the Argentinian impressed him against Oxford: "Medically, he’s fine and he just needs to build up that confidence in his leg and he’ll only get that by playing minutes, not in training matches and training sessions, it’ll come from getting games and getting some tackles, people tackling him.
"Last week he played really well in the first 45 minutes for the reserves and he might get an hour or maybe 70 minutes on Wednesday night.”
Delaney is likely to be given a similar run-out against the U’s, who will include striker Steven Gillespie, keeper Ben Williams and defender Ben Coker in their line-up.
