Rodgers Yet to Hear From Keane on Beattie - Ipswich Town News

Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers says he has heard nothing from Town regarding their reported interest in striker Craig Beattie. A report yesterday claimed the Blues were looking to take the former West Brom and Celtic frontman on loan.

Rodgers and Keane are close friends but the Swans boss says Beattie’s name hasn’t come up in conversation: "I haven’t heard anything and, to be fair to Roy, we speak reasonably regularly.

"We speak very openly on players, so unless there is a message on my phone I haven’t heard anything.”

Rodgers, who is understood to have been the man Keane wanted as his assistant in the summer, says he wouldn’t rule the move out if the Blues were interested: "It’s something I would speak to Craig about and see where we are at. At the moment he has got a slight injury, but should be coming back.

"He missed the end of last season, came back, worked very hard over the summer, came back into pre-season and broke down.

"Then, having had a number of weeks out, had just returned to training last week and picked up a little niggle.

"So at the moment he is not in contention for us. But it is something we would look at and take it from there. But, at the moment, it’s just speculation so I can’t really say to much on that.”

Keane has said he is looking to recruit two more loan players, having completed the signing of Jake Livermore yesterday, although a big striker in the Beattie mould wouldn’t appear to be the area of the squad most in need of cover.
