Charity Memorial Match for Steward - Ipswich Town News

Town’s stewards are taking on a team from Ipswich Hospital’s Raedwald Day Surgery Unit on Sunday 10th October in a charity match being played in memory of Kate Ward, a steward in the Britannia Stand who lost her battle with cancer earlier this year. The game is at Rushmere Sports Club (KO 2pm), where there will also be a barbecue and general knowledge quiz.

Kate, who left a husband and son, was a steward at Portman Road for many years and worked as a nurse at the Ipswich Hospital Day Surgery Unit.

Kate’s colleagues at the hospital wanted to do something in her memory and in the process raise some money for St Elizabeth Hospice, who supported Kate and her family during her difficult time.

All willing footballers are welcome at £5 per player, while Town mascot Bluey will be in attendance.

From 5pm there will be a general knowledge quiz for teams of four with an entry fee of £10 per team.

The club have provided a shirt, ball and tickets for the Town-Norwich game for a raffle which will take place at the quiz, while ex-Blues defender Alex Bruce has given his Leeds shirt from last Saturday’s match.

Total Football have donated a trophy and SEH BAC have offered support for the day. All proceeds will go to St Elizabeth Hospice.

To reserve either a football team place or your quiz team, please contact either Sara Rooney on 07712 886771 or Andy Smith on 07708 646125.
