McAuley in Northern Ireland Action - Ipswich Town News
Central defender Gareth McAuley is likely to be the only Town player starting a full international today when his Northern Ireland side take on the Faroe Islands in Toftir (Sky Sports One, 3.30pm). Tamás Priskin and Márton Fülöp are expected to be amongst Hungary’s subs, while Brian Murphy is set to be an unused member of the Republic of Ireland squad.
McAuley will win his 25th cap as Northern Ireland look to continue their excellent start to their Euro 2012 campaign having beaten Slovenia and drawn with Italy in their opening matches.
Priskin and Fülöp’s Hungary take on Finland in Helsinki with the striker more likely to add to his 29 caps — and his seven goals — from the bench than the keeper, who has previously played for his country 21 times.
Brian Murphy was a late call into the Republic of Ireland squad for their qualifier in Slovakia but is unlikely to win his first cap (Sky Sports Three, 7.25pm).
