Loan midfielder Jake Livermore felt Town might have got a point from Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to Coventry despite another slow start. The Spurs man went close to opening his Blues goals account in the first half soon after the Sky Blues had gone in front.
Livermore said: "I think we got off to a slow start but I still think we feel hard done by in not taking a point from the game. We’re disappointed to have lost because of two goals from set pieces.”
The 20-year-old says he is settling into life at Portman Road: "I got my first 90 minutes last week and I feel we’re building a good relationship as a team, but it was disappointing we couldn’t get a result.
"I don’t always think it’s formations or strategies, it’s just the 11 players out there and their will to win. I don’t think we were out of the blocks until the second half when we started to pass it around well and were a bit more like Ipswich Town.
"I think the main thing was silly mistakes at set pieces and not getting off to a good start. I think there’s a lot of quality in the squad, young boys and a bit of experience, it’s a good mix. The club can go places, which is why we’re disappointed with these little results.”
Livermore was disappointed that his first half strike flew narrowly wide: "It looked to be going in until it took a deflection but you don’t get a goal for just missing the post. We didn’t even get a corner, which was even worse!”
