Lambe\'s Bermuda Draw - Ipswich Town News

Town winger Reggie Lambe and the Bermuda U20 side drew 1-1 with hosts Guadeloupe in the opening game of their U20 World Cup qualifying group overnight. Dante Leverock of the Dandy Town Hornets netted the Bermudian goal.

Bermuda head coach Gary Darrell was happy with the display: "Overall, I’m pleased with the team’s performance. We started off slow but played better in the second half, and clearly the effort showed.

"Unfortunately we came up short, as we were unable to capitalise on goal opportunities. In the end, I’m pleased. Meanwhile, we still need to make adjustments in positioning, as we had some challenges in the first game. We can improve on our performance on the next match.”

The young Bermudians take on Antigua and Barbuda in their other game on Friday. Haiti were also supposed to compete in the group but have withdrawn from the competition.

The winners of the group will qualify for the CONCACAF U20 Championship in Guatemala in April, while the group runners—up go through to the second group phase of qualifying.

Lambe, who has previously won nine full international caps, scoring four goals, in addition to games at U23 and U20 levels, has started two of Town’s Carling Cup ties this season as well as making two league appearances from the bench.

The international games mean the 19-year-old will not be involved in the Blues' Carling Cup tie against Northampton next Tuesday.
