McAuley and Carson Get Northern Ireland Calls - Ipswich Town News

Central defender Gareth McAuley has been named in the Northern Ireland squad for their friendly against Morocco in Belfast on Wednesday 17th November. Meanwhile, academy midfielder Josh Carson has received his first Northern Ireland U21 call.

McAuley, who has previously won 25 full caps, scoring one goal, usually operates at right-back for his national side.

Carson has previously won caps at U16, U17, U18 and U19 levels but this is his first call into the U21 squad. The Northern Irish youngsters take on Scotland at Partick Thistle, also on November 17th.

Academy striker Caolan Lavery, who recently switched allegiance from Canada to Northern Ireland, is on standby for the U21s.

Lavery, who had won caps with the Canadians at U17 level, made his first appearances for the Northern Ireland’s U19s last month.
