McAuley Named in Team of the Week - Ipswich Town News

Town defender Gareth McAuley has been named in the Championship Team of the Week for his performance in Saturday’s 2-1 win at Sheffield United. The former skipper, who was making his 100th appearance for the Blues, scored his second goal of the season and put in his usual resolute defensive display.

McAuley was last named in the division’s select team in April, while Carlos Edwards was included after last week’s 2-0 victory over Millwall.

The Northern Irishman, whose contract is up at the end of the season, says he wants to stick around at Town for his 200th appearance: "It was nice to get the win, in my 100th game.

"It's the first time that I have managed to make 100 appearances for a club. It would be great to keep that going and perhaps even double it up."

Team of the Week: Dorus de Vries (Swansea); Cliff Byrne (Scunthorpe), Gareth McAuley (Ipswich), Angelo Miguel Vitor (Leicester), Dean Moxey (Derby); Robert Snodgrass (Leeds), Michael O'Connor (Scunthorpe), Andy King (Leicester), Lewis McGugan (Nottm Forest); Martin Paterson (Burnley), Marvin Emnes (Swansea).
