U18s Win at Charlton - Ipswich Town News

Town’s U18s got back into winning ways ahead of Thursday’s FA Youth Cup tie with a 3-2 victory at Charlton on Saturday. Defender Josh Meekings (pictured) scored the Blues’ first in the opening period before Caolan Lavery, who made his Northern Ireland U21 debut last week, netted twice in the second half.

The young Blues were pegged back twice after a Meekings header and Lavery had put them in front, the Canadian-born striker clinching the three points with a freekick just after the hour mark.

Town’s U18s are in FA Youth Cup action against Peterborough United at Portman Road on Thursday (KO 7pm). Prices are £3 adults and £1 concessions and children with only the Cobbold Stand open.

Last season the young Blues reached the fifth round of the competition before being knocked out by Fulham, having defeated Arsenal in the previous round. Town have won the competition three times, in 1973, 1975 and 2005.

U18s: O'Donnell, Meekings (Bennett 46), Maduako, McKeown, Whight (Carson 46), Burke, Jones, Scotcher, October (Acott 63), Tiofack, Lavery. Unused: Cropper.
