Town Amongst Clubs Linked With Manchester City Striker - Ipswich Town News
Town are amongst a host of Championship clubs reported to be chasing the loan signing of Manchester City striker John Guidetti. Burnley are said to be the front-runners for the 18-year-old’s signature with the Blues, Cardiff, Leicester and Nottingham Forest also said to be interested.
Guidetti is a Swedish U21 international, who joined City from Brommapojkarna in 2008. Guidetti, who wears the number 60 shirt at Eastlands, made his first and so far only appearance for Roberto Mancini’s side in the 2-1 Carling Cup defeat to West Brom earlier in the season.
Football League clubs have until 5pm today to make any further emergency loan signings. After that they will have to wait until January to add to their squads.
Last week Town boss Roy Keane said the Blues weren’t actively targeting anyone, however, that may have changed with Tom Eastman picking up a groin injury at Hull and with the Blues having fallen to three successive defeats.

Blackburn Rovers 1-0 Ipswich Town - Match AbandonedTown look set to face a return trip to Blackburn Rovers later in the season after this afternoon’s game was abandoned after 80 minutes due to a waterlogged pitch with the home side 1-0 up and with the Blues down to 10 men. Jacob Greaves was shown a straight red card four minutes after the break for hauling down Yuki Ohashi, then Rovers skipper Todd Cantwell netted a penalty on 59, but the heavy rain had made the game increasingly farcical the longer it progressed and in the 80th minute referee Stephen Martin took the players off and then 25 minutes later abandoned it entirely.
