Norris Deal Close - Ipswich Town News

Skipper David Norris says he is confident that negotiations regarding his new contract will be completed soon. The former Plymouth man’s representatives have been in talks with Town since late last month with the 29-year-old expecting to remain with the Blues.

Norris said: "Things are progressing fine. The club are in touch with my agent and I’m confident I will agree a new deal soon.

"It’s been in the back of mind and it would be nice to get it all cleared up. I came here three years ago to do a job and help get Ipswich promoted.

"There is no way that I want to leave a failure — I want to do what I was brought here to do for this great club.”

Norris is one of a number of senior players amongst the 21 out of contract at the end of the season and TWTD understands that central defender Gareth McAuley is also one of those to have been offered new terms.

Last week, chief executive Simon Clegg revealed that talks are ongoing with both senior players and youngsters, telling the press: "We know whose contracts are coming to an end and Roy, myself and the owner are agreed on who we want to keep, and those conversations are in train. As soon as I’m in a position to give you the first news, you’ll be the first to know.”
