QPR\'s Leigertwood Linked - Ipswich Town News

Town are targeting QPR midfielder Mikele Leigertwood, according to a report in one of this morning’s tabloids. The 28-year-old is currently on loan with Reading but his spell ends on January 25th.

The Blues are claimed to be ready to make a £1 million offer for the Antigua and Barbuda international, however, a loan move appears more likely with owner Marcus Evans appearing less than willing to provide manager Roy Keane with that sort of cash at the present time.

Reading boss Brian McDermott has been hugely impressed with Leigertwood, who is contracted to QPR until 2012, during his time at the Madejski Stadium and hopes to sign him either permanently or on another loan when his current spell is up. An extended stay with the Royals appears rather more likely than a move to Portman Road.

Enfield-born Leigertwood started his career with Wimbledon and has subsequently played for Leyton Orient (loan), Crystal Palace and Sheffield United, joining QPR from the Blades for £900,000 in the summer of 2007.
