Town Confirm McCarthy Appointment - Ipswich Town News
Town have confirmed that, as reported earlier, Paul Jewell’s former Bradford City strike partner Sean McCarthy has joined the new manager's staff as a coach. The 43-year-old has signed a contract until 2013.
McCarthy, who will be in the dug-out alongside Jewell at Millwall on Saturday, met the squad along with the new boss at Playford Road this morning.
While TWTD understands that reserves coach Chris Kiwomya will remain at Portman Road, there is as yet no news on goalkeeping-coach Jim Hollman and fitness coaches Antonio Gomez and Simon Thadani. Roy Keane's first team coaches Tony Loughlan and Charlie McParland have left the club.
In addition to McCarthy, Jewell may make further appointments to his backroom team with his former Bradford, Wigan and Derby assistant Chris Hutchings having been sacked by Walsall earlier this month and newspaper reports linking West Ham coach Wally Downes.
